Commercial Kitchen Extract Systems

Canopy extract, grease-rated ductwork, replacement air and rooftop discharge for restaurants, hotels, pubs and food production.

Kitchen extract is one of the most demanding ventilation packages in commercial construction: it carries grease, it has to be cleanable, it usually passes through fire compartments, and its discharge position is frequently a planning and landlord issue before it is an engineering one.

We install complete kitchen extract systems — canopy connections, extract ductwork, fan systems and replacement air — coordinated with the kitchen supplier, the landlord's requirements and the project's fire strategy.

Ductwork, access and cleanability

Extract ductwork is installed with adequate fall, welded or sealed jointing appropriate to the duty, and access panels positioned so the whole system can actually be cleaned. Where duct routes are long or heavily offset, access provision is agreed with the client's cleaning contractor at installation stage rather than discovered later.

Replacement air and system balance

Extract without adequate replacement air produces doors that will not close, poor canopy capture and unhappy kitchens. We install fresh-air replacement systems alongside the extract so the kitchen can be balanced correctly against adjacent front-of-house areas.

Fire compartmentation and discharge

Where kitchen extract passes through fire compartments, fire-resisting construction and fire stopping interfaces are installed in accordance with the project fire strategy and specification. Rooftop discharge terminations, support steelwork, attenuation and any odour-control plant are coordinated with the roof and structural packages.

Common questions

Can you work with our appointed kitchen supplier?
Yes. Canopy interfaces, fan duties and control requirements are coordinated directly with the kitchen supplier and the M&E contractor.
Do you carry out works outside trading hours?
Yes. Works in operating restaurants, hotels and pubs are routinely programmed overnight or around closure periods.

Send us your drawings
